Dry skin brushing is a simple, time-tested detox support practice that helps stimulate the lymphatic system, improve circulation, and support the excretion of toxins through the skin, our largest organ of elimination. While it won’t chelate metals directly, it primes the lymph to move waste more efficiently, especially when combined with infrared sauna therapy, hydration, and binders.

What You’ll Need

A natural-bristle dry skin brush (preferably with a long handle for hard-to-reach areas). These are available at your local pharmacy, department stores, discount stores or online. You do not need to buy the most expensive one, any one will do.

Avoid brushing over broken skin, rashes, sunburn, or varicose veins.

Frequency

Best done before sauna sessions or your morning shower.

Start slowly at once every 2nd day and only at a gentle pressure.

Build up to 5–7 days per week.

How long should it take?

Takes 3–5 minutes per session

Can be extended to 10 minutes as you become more familiar and thorough.

How to brush:

Always brush toward the heart – this follows the natural flow of the lymphatic system.
Use firm but gentle strokes. The skin should be slightly pink afterward, not red or irritated.
Begin at the soles of the feet, using upward strokes toward the calves, knees, and thighs.
Move to the hands, brushing upward along the arms toward the armpits.
Brush the abdomen in a circular motion (clockwise).
Finish with the back, chest, and neck – gentle strokes here.

Aftercare:

Shower after brushing to rinse off dead skin cells and toxins brought to the surface.
Follow with a hydrating, non-toxic lotion or oil (e.g., coconut oil, jojoba oil with essential oils).
Rehydrate with water post-session.
