Going through the process of detoxifying heavy metals can at times create the uncomfortable and inconvenient outcome of loose bowels, constipation and/or headaches. If any of these continue for more than 48 hours then it's time to implement some first aid.

Detox First Aid Suggestions:

If bowel movements become loose or unformed:

Banana Biotic Powder 1 - 2 teaspoons a day added to food or liquid.

Can be used in baking or cooking and stable at high temperatures.
Can safely use more if needed.

If bowels become slow or constipated:

Include 1 kiwi fruit into your diet each day.
Check your water intake. Go back to Day 1 and refamiliarise yourself with the water intake information.

If you tend to be constipated prior to commencing this program, start with getting your hydration on track, increase your vegetables and fibre intake and ensure you are walking daily.

Chronic constipation that is not resolved with the above basic interventions then you will need:-

Psyllium husk (we recommend Agiolax Granules) - Introduce 1 tsp. mixed into water, include in baking or mix into food. Increase up to 1 tablespoon a day or to the level that you can pass a bowel movement.
Ginger; fresh grated into food or consumed as tea .
Over accentuate bitter vegetables e.g. dandelion greens, mustard greens, rocket.
Reduce stress; revisit the breathing and relaxation techniques
Daily exercise; stimulates bowel movements
Relaxation massage (NOT a deep tissue massage as at this point it may make symptoms worse).

Headaches can sometimes occur as your body removes toxins but will dissipate.

Check that your water intake is optimal. Go back to Day 1 and refamiliarise yourself with the water intake information.
Soak your feet in an Epsom Salt foot-bath
Go for a walk
Review your sleep; are you getting enough sleep and is it quality sleep? Follow a regular routine and keep the bedroom cool, dark & quiet.
Consuming alcohol during this process is not recommended and may aggravate headaches if consumed. Please eliminate during this detox.
Reduce or eliminate caffeine and sources of caffeine.
Using heat or ice pack against the head or neck. Avoid extreme temperatures and never apply directly to the skin.
Relaxation massage (NOT a deep tissue massage as at this point it may make symptoms worse).

Note: If you have stopped your intake of caffeine abruptly and then developed a headache it may be due to a withdrawal headache. This can be due to the blood vessels in the brain expanding after caffeine is stopped. The consequent increased blood flow can create pressure that results in a headache. Commonly symptoms present 12 to 24 hrs after ceasing. They will resolve. You can provide first aid relief by taking a small amount of caffeine.
